Alexandra Court

The project is the result of learning from a building, in particular Alexandra Road Estate by Neave Brown (1929-2018). His ideals, building in terraces, eyes on the streets and balconies open to the sky were the key-features I started the design with. Through sun-, morphological-and  housing- studies the design takes its form.

The opportunities for the new development.

The three blocks in red are up for demolishing.

With the new design I create a better public space and a buffere between the fragmented existing buildings in the east and the Alexandra Road Estate in the west.

The pedestrian routing from the station towards the big housing scheme of Alexandra Road will improve.

On the right the schemes of the principles of the design. These princiiples are derived from the analysis of Alexandra Road Estate
